Join us in the Tuning Room from 2:00 – 3:30 PM, Sunday, August 30th, at Baile nan Gàidheal/Highland Village, Iona for the annual Alex Francis MacKay Memorial Scotch Music lecture. This year’s presentation will be made by Joey Beaton and Karen Beaton. Joining forces to combine Cape Breton style piano and fiddle playing, Joey and Karen will give a special talk to explain and demonstrate the nuances of Cape Breton “Scotch music,” while emphasizing its Gaelic flavor.
Drawing directly on rich backgrounds steeped in Gaelic cultural expression, Joey and Karen will provide their Highland Village audience with a lively and informed presentation of Scotch music, as played over the generations.
